The X Dog Concept that Chinese automaker Haval unveiled at the Shanghai Expo in April is going to become a mass-market crossover SUV, as evidenced by these patent shots. The car looks nearly identical to its prototype, including even the wheels and the roof rails. The rear windows could use some detailing to stand out, of course, but we will have to wait until the official premiere to see what it ends up looking like.
Speaking of which: the company still hasn’t revealed the name of the purported production car, but the patent description features a word ‘henye’, which means ‘wild’ – this could very well be the name. The certification is pending. We expect the model to be introduced later this year and go on sale in early 2022 or so.
The X Dog lineup started with an SUV named the Big Dog and has since evolved into a whole family of cars with canine names. This wouldn’t be unique among Chinese carmakers, as Ora pulled the same trick with ‘Cat’.
