The all-new Hyundai Staria is heading Down Under with confirmation that local sales will kick off this month. As with other markets, shoppers in Australia will be able to order the new Staria with either a 2.2-liter CRDi turbocharged four-cylinder diesel with 174 hp and 430 Nm or a 3.5-liter MPi V6 producing 268 hp and 331 Nm of torque. Models with the 3.5-liter engine are front-wheel drive while the diesel variant is all-wheel drive. Both are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Three trim levels will be offered. The entry-level Staria is priced from AU$ 48,500 (US$ 35,829) with the 3.5-liter and AU$ 51,500 (US$ 38,046) with the 2.2-liter turbo-diesel. It comes standard with the Hyundai SmartSense system that includes blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, driver attention warning, forward collision-avoidance assist, high beam assist, and lane following assist. It also features keyless entry, a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, 8-inch infotainment display, six-speaker audio system, and rear climate controls.
One step up in the range takes shoppers to the Staria Elite. It adds smart power sliding doors, a power tailgate, smart key with remote start, leather-appointed seats, a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 3D surround view monitor. Prices for the Staria Elite 3.5 start at AU$ 56,500 (US$ 41,739) and rise to AU$ 59,500 (US$ 43,956) for the 2.2 diesel.
Topping out the range is the Staria Highlander, priced from AU$ 63,500 (US$ 46,911) with the 3.5-liter and AU$ 66,500 (US$ 49,127) for the diesel. It adds a dual power sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, blind-spot view monitor, rear passenger view monitor, LED map lights, and a cloth headliner. Aussie buyers can order the Staria in Abyss Black, Moonlight Blue, Gaia Brown Mica, Graphite Grey, and Olivine Grey Metallic.
