The good news for fans of classically correct sports cars is that Nissan appears not to have strayed far from the Z Proto concept car with its upcoming production-spec Z. At least, that’s what a trio of Instagram posts would suggest. The teasers show brief shots of a new Nissan Z sliding across the screen with a portion of the reveal date 8.17.21 (August 8, 2017) flashing across the screen. The first shows the car head-on with its DRLs lighting up. These have much the same shape as the concept’s lights, looking a bit like eyelids on top and below the central bulb. They may, if anything, be a little slimmer and more delicate than the concept’s lights, though it’s hard to tell for sure.
The next shows the car from a front three-quarter angle. Again darkened, the light reflected on the hood and the roof of the car suggest that the production car will be very similar to the concept. Even the concept’s yellow color seems to be visible as the short video goes from color to grayscale.
Finally, the third teaser shows the Z badge on the panel behind the side windows, much like the concept. Even the Z Proto’s chrome trim piece that extends from the A-pillar all the way down to where the roofline meets the beltline is present, as is the deliberately choppy Kammback tail.
It’s all good news if, like the majority of the onlookers, you were a fan of the Z Proto concept and bodes well for the new Nissan Z, which will be fully unveiled on August 17 at 8:00 PM during an event broadcast live from New York.
