The Pagani Huayra R has been filmed testing on the track for the very first time, allowing us to hear its 6.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 in all its glory. Pagani lifted the veil on the Huayra R back in March and promptly released an animated video of it testing around a circuit. While that video tried to replicate the symphony produced by the high-revving V12, it sounds even better in this video filmed at the Monza circuit.

The track-only hypercar has been developed in partnership with HWA AG and it is claimed that the powertrain is the “lightest, most powerful and efficient track-ready V12 ever created,” pumping out 838 hp and 750 Nm of torque. This engine revs to 9,000 rpm and took more than two years to design and develop. It tips the scales at 198 kg and is paired to a six-speed sequential transmission that was also developed alongside HWA AG and weighs 80 kg.

Pagani is also proud of the fact that the Huayra R has four equal-length exhaust pipes that help make it sound like a Formula 1 car of yesteryear. Beyond giving the Huayra R a unique powertrain, Pagani has also designed it around a new monocoque that contributes to a 16 per cent increase in torsional rigidity and a 51 increase in flexural rigidity compared to a road-going Huayra. This monocoque has also allowed Pagani to keep the track car’s overall dry weight down to just 1,050 kg.
