Renault will use the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon to introduce the new Hippie Caviar Hotel. Described as a “hippie-chic van,” the concept is based on the upcoming Trafic EV and is being billed as a 5-star hotel that you can drive. Renault didn’t say much about the model, but it features a two-tone Almond Flakes and Anodised Silver Grey exterior complete with a rooftop terrace. The latter can be accessed by a ladder and it boasts a coffee table as well as two deployable backrests that allow people to lounge around on the roof.

The company only provided a glimpse of the interior, but it features a wicker-effect dashboard, exotic wood trim and plant-based foam in the seats. Other highlights include linen and wool upholstery, “Japanese paper-effect ‘washi’ paints,” and a bench seat that can be converted into a bed that measures 195 cm long and 145 cm wide.

Speaking of the latter, Renault said the bench can be positioned inside or outside the vehicle. In particular, there’s a “contemplation” position which sees the bench extend out the tailgate while “draperies provide privacy and protection from the weather.” There’s also a “cosy” position that creates a lounge-like atmosphere.

Interestingly, the van is designed to be accompanied by a “logistics container” that features a bathroom, shower and an electric recharging point. It’s envisioned to get dropped off at a location chosen by campers. Renault also envisions concierge services, which would use a drone to make deliveries. While the Hippie Caviar Hotel is simply a concept, Renault has “set its sights on developing a range of VIP vans centered on customized services.”
