Audi USA today announced that the Q4 40 e-tron, the entry level trim of its all-electric SUV, will start at US$ 43,900, excluding a US$ 1,095 destination fee. The more upmarket Q4 50 e-tron will start at US$ 49,900 (US$ 50,995), while the Q4 Sportback 50 e-tron will start at US$ 52,700 (US$ 53,795). All are eligible for a federal tax credit of up to US$ 7,500. The Q4 50 and Q4 50 Sportback feature a twin-motor set up that churns out 295 hp and 459 Nm of torque, which will be enough to get the crossover to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. The Q4 50 e-tron and its Sportback variant have a range estimate of 388 km. Audi has not yet received official confirmation from the EPA for the Q4 40 e-tron.

The cheaper Q4 40 e-tron is likely to have a greater range thanks to its lower power output. With just one motor, as opposed to the Q4 50 e-trons’ two motors, it puts out 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque and can hit 60 mph in 7.9 seconds. Its platform partner, the VW ID.4 Pro, has an EPA-estimated range of 260 miles. All variants are powered by an 82 kWh (77 kWh net) battery that Audi estimates can go from 5-80 percent charge in just 38 minutes at 125 kW DC public chargers. Customers will also get 250 kWh of free charging over the first two years of ownership at Electrify America charging stations.

 

Both the Q4 40 e-tron and the Q4 50 e-tron will come standard with 19-inch wheels, while the Q4 Sportback 50 e-tron comes standard with 20-inch wheels. Inside, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is joined by a standard 10.1-inch center infotainment screen. Those looking for a little more luxury can opt for the augmented reality heads-up display or the S Line Plus package, which offers black trim pieces on the exterior, sport front seats, a steering wheel with a flat top and bottom, and a brushed aluminum inlay.

Audi is also offering customers a choice of two turnkey installation options for home charging. Customers can opt to have electricians install either a NEMA 14-50 power outlet upgrade that will get you to Level 2, 240-volt charging, or an Electrify America HomeStation and concierge service to schedule at-home charging. The first comes standard and is included in the purchase price. Audi has not outlined the price for the second, but the charger costs US$ 649 from Electrify America.
