Ford is updating the truck it races in the unruly NASCAR Camping World Truck Series ahead of the 2022 season. Along with new materials, the vehicle incorporates the design of the latest F-150 to look more like the truck you see on the road. Developed at the Ford Performance Technical Center in Concord, North Carolina, the race team says that it has updated at the front and the back, and the hood has been changed from steel to composite for next year’s racing season.
Although the aero work is done on the new truck, Ford Performance says that extensive development continues in the simulator to make sure the new truck will live up to high expectations set by the production truck.
The new racetruck will make its competition debut in February at Daytona International Speedway. Since debuting in 1995, the F-150 has earned 107 race wins as well as two driver’s championship titles with Greg Biffle in 2000 and Matt Crafton in 2019.
