Polestar took to the floor at IAA Munich to show off a new electric moped that it has designed in collaboration with Cake. The Makka – Polestar Edition is a last-mile commuter designed specifically to complement the Polestar 2. Based on the Cake Makka, the Polestar Edition is a modified version of the electric moped. It gets its own slim headlight, black detailing, a frame and battery cover finished in Polestar’s own shade of Snow matte, and best of all, a golden rear damper by Öhlins.
Polestar envisions the e-bike as the perfect tool to complete the last mile of any journey. Allowing drivers to park their Polestar 2 at, say, a charging station on the outskirts of a city center, the driver can then become a rider and zip to their destination. And the Makka – Polestar Edition will always be charged because of a special tow bar attachment that not helps the car carry the bike but also allows it to charge it at the same time.
The flagship product in Polestar‘s upcoming “Polestar Additionals” webshop, it will first be available in Sweden, Germany, Norway, the U.K., Netherlands, and Switzerland, with more markets to follow. It will be sold alongside hoodies, bags, and water bottles. Prices for the Cake Makka – Polestar Edition have not yet been revealed, but the standard edition starts at US$ 3,500. Available in either 25 km/h or 45 km/h versions, the moped features a 3.6 kW motor and weighs 66 kg with the battery.
