Maybach is celebrating its centennial by introducing special editions of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and GLS. Limited to 100 units each, the Edition 100s have a hand-painted silver and nautical blue exterior with unique wheels that feature a new grey finish. Additional changes are limited, but the anniversary models also have “Edition 100” badging on the hub caps and rear pillars.
Moving into the cabin, there’s beautiful designo crystal white and silver grey pearl leather that contrasts with black wood. Buyers will also find illuminated sill plates and an assortment of Maybach Edition 100 logos. The company didn’t go into many specifics, but the ultra-luxury GLS has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 549 hp and 730 Nm of torque. It should enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 250 km/h.
The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, on the other hand, has a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 621 hp and 1,001 Nm of torque. It should allow for a 0-96 km/h time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 209 km/h. As an added bonus, customers will receive a Maybach-branded car cover and a crystal white or black leather file case. The company has also teamed up with Robbe & Berking to offer silver champagne flutes with special engraving. If those aren’t extravagant enough, there’s a fountain pen with an 18-carat gold nib, 100 diamonds and a mother-of-pearl cap.
In Germany, orders will be accepted in the fourth quarter and delivers will begin early next year. Things are slightly different in the United States as Americans will only be getting the S-Class and it will be available in the first half of 2022.
