Porsche is readying some updates for their flagship SUV and our spy photographers took a good look at a camouflaged prototype at the Nürburgring. The third-generation Cayenne has been around since 2017 so four years later it is time for a mid-cycle update. In typical Porsche fashion, the styling updates will be discreet, even though they will include several redesigned body panels.

The front end will get smaller headlights and a new bumper with taller and less rounded intakes. At the back, we can see what appears to be a new pair of full-width taillights, plus a new tailgate without the license plate that has been moved to the updated bumper.

Inside, the facelifted Cayenne will benefit from a new fully digital instrument cluster losing the analog tachometer of the current model. It will also get a revised dashboard with a larger touchscreen, updated climate controls, and a new gear shifter. The new screen setup will likely integrate the sixth-gen PCM infotainment system that has already debuted in the 911, Cayenne, and Panamera since last summer.

As for the engine range, it is expected to receive mild updates with the possible addition of another plug-in hybrid. In the case of the Panamera sibling, last year’s facelift brought the new S E-Hybrid variant bridging the gap between the base E-Hybrid and the flagship Turbo S E-Hybrid. The facelifted Porsche Cayenne is expected to premiere sometime in the coming months together with the Cayenne Coupe variant.
