GAC has revealed the pricing of its new GS8 crossover for China: the minimum price is 188,800 Yuan, or around US$ 29,000.

Buyers of this version get a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 252 PS and 400 Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission drives the front wheels here, but paying 206,800 Yuan (US$ 32,000) nets you AWD.

A petrol-electric modification is another addition to the lineup, combining an IC engine good for 190 PS with an electric motor rated at 182 PS. All-wheel-drive can be obtained by opting for an extra rear-axle electric motor rated at 55 PS.

The second generation of the GAC GS8 was originally announced in July with new architecture, design and larger dimensions (now larger than the Toyota Highlander). The main visual novelty comes in the form of a supersized front grille available in a number of designs. Inside, the infotainment touchscreen measures 14.6 inches across by default, and there can be 5 or 7 seats.
