The Honda Aircraft Company continues to make waves in the business jet industry and has just showcased its HondaJet 2600 Concept for the first time. The 2600 Concept features the same Over-The-Wing Engine Mount configuration as existing HondaJet models and also utilizes a carbon composite fuselage. The key difference with the 2600 Concept is that it has been conceived as the world’s first light jet capable of nonstop transcontinental flight across the United States.
Honda says the jet has a range of 2,625 nautical miles, a high-speed cruise speed of 450 knots, and can fly at up to 47,000 feet. It is also larger than other HondaJet models, capable of seating up to 11 occupants and providing greater cabin height. When flying at its max altitude of 47,000 feet, the cabin pressurization sets the cabin to the equivalent of 6,363 feet.
Honda adds that the 2600 Concept provides 20 percent better fuel efficiency than a typical light jet and is over 40 percent more fuel-efficient than a mid-size jet.
