Since the unveiling of the Toyota Land Cruiser Series 300 which is not destined for the US market, we have been patiently waiting for its more luxurious brother: the new generation Lexus LX. It seems that we are not far from the official debut, since Lexus has dropped the first official teaser of the LX600 together with the announcement for the big reveal scheduled for October 13th.
The teaser includes a short video and a picture, showing a few design details of the new LX. We get a pretty good look at the rear end which has L-shaped taillights connected with an LED strip. The emblem has been replaced by Lexus lettering, while the LX600 badge on the tailgate confirms rumors about the name. We also get a glimpse of the muscular front fenders and the door-mounted mirrors. We already know that the Lexus LX will be sharing its underpinnings with the Toyota Land Cruiser, including the ladder frame infused with elements from the GA-F platform.
According to the latest reports, the LX600 variant could be fitted with the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 which produces 409 hp and 650 Nm in the Land Cruiser. The rumored LX750h flagship will allegedly use the same engine together with an electric motor, producing a combined 480 hp and 871 Nm of torque. In both cases, power will be sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The current third-generation Lexus LX was launched back in 2007, with three consecutive facelifts in 2010, 2012, and 2015. Despite the numerous updates, after so many years in the market, it was time for a clean-sheet design. The digital premiere of the fourth-generation Lexus LX is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13th, at 07:30 PM Moscow time (12:30 PM EDT) followed by physical reveals in Russia and the United Arab Emirates. The US market launch is expected in the first half of 2022.
