WM Motors has introduced the world to a production variant of its Weltmeister-branded M7 sedan. The four-door car sports an unusual exterior along with a laconic cabin and a cutting-edge autopilot system comprising 32 sensors and 3 lidars for near-complete driving autonomy.
The Weltmeister M7 sports smooth curves,
emphasized wheel arches, a dynamic roofline, reclining c-pillars and quite
fresh-looking lights all around. Found inside are a couple of driver’s displays
and a steering wheel with large, bulky spokes housing touch controls.
The center console has a multi-function
lever called the i-Rota, which can be presses like a button and rotated, and
even has an extra sensor panel built into its middle. Rear seat occupants enjoy
their own infotainment displays, and the front passenger sits before a simple
pixelized tableau.
Power specifications remain unannounced,
but the company claims 700 km of driving range. The self-driving
suite consists of three lidars mounted on the roof and the front fenders, 5
radars, 11 cameras, and 23 ultrasonic sensors. It can recognize objects up to
200 meters away and should mostly grant hands-free driving, only
asking the driver for assistance in emergencies.
More details will be revealed next month,
and production will begin in 2022 with prices still pending.
