The 2022 Hyundai i20 N has officially touched down on Australian shores, following in the footsteps of the critically-acclaimed i30 N. A sole variant of the i20 N will be offered to Aussie shoppers. It is priced from AU$ 32,490 (US$ 23,902) before on-road costs and is available in Polar White, Sleek Silver, Performance Blue, Dragon Red, and Phantom Black. A Phantom Black roof is also available.

As in overseas markets, the i20 N is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 201 hp and 275 Nm of torque. This engine is mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential that powers the front wheels. While other Hyundai models have the same basic 1.6-liter turbo-four, the automaker notes that the i20 N has a bespoke turbocharger, intercooler, and water pump, as well as a 350-bar high-pressure fuel injection rail. It also features a Continuously Variable Valve Duration system.

Elsewhere, the Hyundai i20 N comes with bespoke passive dampers that were tuned in Namyang and honed at the Nurburgring. There is also a new N Power Sense Axle and enlarged brakes with 320 mm rotors at the front. Sticking the hot hatch to the pavement are 215/40R18 Pirelli P-Zero tires with a bespoke compound.

Various safety features are included as standard. These include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, and High Beam Assist. The i20 N also features a new N Road Sense system that detects road signs indicating curves ahead and recommends drivers switch the car into N mode.
