The Porsche Cayenne’s striptease continues as spy photographers have caught a facelifted prototype showing new details. While previous testers have been spotted with temporary taillights, the latest prototype features production units which are lightly disguised. Details are hard to make out, but the taillights themselves appear wider than before. That’s a relatively minor change and the most noticeable difference is the all-new tailgate and rear bumper. These updates are the result of the license plate moving from the tailgate to the bumper.
The changes to the front end are minor by
comparison as we can see a modestly revised front fascia and grille. The
headlights also look new as they appear to feature more prominent daytime
running lights. Spy photographers didn’t get close enough to snap interior
pictures, but previous photos have shown the crossover will be equipped with an
all-new infotainment system. As a result, we can expect a sixth-generation
Porsche Communication Management system that features improved graphics, a more
intuitive layout and support for Android Auto. The system also boasts improved
Voice Pilot technology as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and built-in Apple
Music.
Besides the new infotainment system, the
facelifted Cayenne will have a revised center console with updated switchgear
and a minimalist shifter. The model will also sport a digital instrument
cluster and an updated steering wheel. Powertrain options will presumably
carryover, but there could be some minor modifications for improved
performance. Regardless, it’s worth noting Porsche introduced the 631 hp Cayenne Turbo GT this summer.
There’s no word on when the facelifted
model will debut, but it’s expected to be launched next year as either a 2022
or 2023 model.
