A new variant of the Drako GTE is on the cards. Dubbed the Dragon, it promises to boost the performance envelop even further. The GTE has been around for a couple of years now and is based on the 2012 Fisker Karma. Despite its underpinnings, it has a US$ 1.3 million sticker price. It’s unclear how many examples have been sold but Drako clearly thinks it can make the EV that little more desirable.
The updated Drako Dragon will premiere in
January 2022 and like the GTE, it will feature four electric motors. However,
power and torque from these motors is tipped to rise significantly, meaning the
car will have more than the 1,200 hp that the GTE delivers. Additionally, the
90 kWh battery pack is said to have been upgraded to provide greater range and
improved cooling for better on-track performance.
A handful of teaser images have been
released of the car. We can see that the initial show car will be finished in
blue with white racing stripes but it doesn’t appear as though any significant
exterior modifications have been made to the vehicle. Drako says that the
Dragon will offer great performance than the GTE, although it hasn’t yet stated
just how quickly it will hit 96 km/h nor has it said if its top speed
will be greater than the 332 km/h that’s been claimed for the GTE.
