The Opel Insignia may not be the first car that springs to mind when you think about sporty sedans but thanks to tuning expert Irmscher, it will soon be upgraded into quite an impressive performer. Irmscher’s tuned Insignia is still being developed and currently known as the is3. Just two renderings of the car has been shared to social media but that appears to have been enough to get some Insignia fans very excited about what is on the way.
From a visual standpoint, the tuner has
managed to make the Insignia much more striking thanks to some body add-ons.
These upgrades start at the front where there is now a carbon fiber front
splitter and a revised black grille with a carbon fiber accent. Irmscher has
also designed extended side skirts for the sedan.
The changes continue along the sides with
a piece of carbon fiber trim that runs along the doors and intersects the door
handles. The Insignia’s shark fin antenna is now also clad in carbon fiber and
accompanied by a carbon fiber roof spoiler, a carbon fiber rear wing, and a
bold carbon fiber rear diffuser that adds heaps of extra aggression to the
sedan. Unique silver and black wheels have also been designed.
Irmscher hasn’t yet stated what
performance modifications it is developing for the Insignia, other than stating
that the vehicle will have around 300 hp. Presumably, this mean’s the tuner
Insignia will use the current model’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder
which ordinarily delivers 256 hp and 400 Nm of torque, as opposed
to the 3.6-liter V6 formerly used by the Holden Commodore and Buick Regal GS
with its 316 hp and 381 Nm as standard.
