Since its reveal in 2018, the fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny has become one of the most popular 4x4s, so it is natural for tuners to offer plenty of aftermarket options in terms of styling and accessories. Lately, we discovered a Japanese company called T-style that had the ingenious idea of adding the adorable face of the Jimny on a Suzuki Every van. The result is called the “Jimry” and is available in many different versions according to the preferences of each owner. Thanks to the new face it looks like a Jimny transformed into a van, just like a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly – or maybe the opposite. Others would say it resembles a Pokemon evolution like when the Bulbasaur turned into an Ivysaur and then into a Venusaur.
If you are wondering how is it possible to
merge the front end of a 4×4 with the body of a van, it happened thanks to the
Kei car regulations which make the Jimny and the Every compatible in terms of
width. Given the huge difference in height and ground clearance though, things
are not that simple, creating the need for custom parts. As you can see, the
grille and the headlights are genuine Jimny parts ensuring factory-spec
quality. The front bumper is custom-made but it has a similar design to the
Jimny while integrating the same honeycomb pattern on the central intake. Other
custom parts are the front fenders and the tiny bonnet with a bulge on the
center.
Under the bonnet there is a tiny 660cc
three-cylinder 12-valve gasoline engine producing anywhere between 48 hp to 63 hp. Power is transmitted to the rear or all four
wheels through a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. The
visual kit is available at a price of 248,000 yen (US$ 2,179), but what is even
more interesting are the available personalization options. Since this is a
genuine grille, the owner can opt for any of the aftermarket parts designed for
the Jimny that make it look like a mini G-Wagen or a Defender.
Additionally, T-style is offering plenty
of options for the suspension with lift kits for off-roading or a set of
sportier springs for better handling. Then there is the wheel/tire combination
that affects both styling and performance, protective gear around the bodywork,
plus other accessories like a roof-mounted pop-up tent which is ideal for
camping. Last but not least, the interior can be specified with any kind of
leather upholstery, rear seats turning into beds, and practical storage
compartments under the sleeping/seating/cargo area.
The tuner has several complete vehicles
available for sale on their online inventory. Pricing depends on the level of
customization, with a beefed-up version listed for 2.48 million yen (US$ 21,817).
In any case, whoever is driving around in one of the Jimry vans will definitely
make heads turn.
