Rolls-Royce Spectre, the automaker’s first fully-electric production model was announced last September, with a teaser video showing a camouflaged vehicle. The same prototype was caught by spy photographers revealing more design details under the special wrap. While we were already familiar with the Wraith-style two-door silhouette of the model from the teasers, the spy pictures allow us a closer look at the electric coupe. At the front, it appears that the Spectre will feature a split-headlight design while retaining the signature Rolls-Royce grille and a wide lower intake housing the ADAS sensors.

The long bonnet, the large suicide doors, and the sloping roofline are typical of a modern Rolls-Royce coupe but a closer look reveals that the body is more muscular than ever before with pronounced shoulders and an integrated rear spoiler on the tailgate. The window line is highlighted by a heavy chrome strip, likely matching the trim of the handles of the rear-hinged door. We can also see a pronounced rear bumper extension with an integrated diffuser, matching the color of the front splitter and the side sills.

Despite looking similar to the ICE-powered Wraith, the Spectre will be an all-new model, sharing the aluminum spaceframe with the Phantom, the Ghost, and the Cullinan. The scalable architecture has been converted to accommodate an electric powertrain, something that was planned since the platform’s original development. The company hasn’t revealed any details on the electric motors other than they will offer “sufficient” power and range figures.

Sightings of the Spectre will become more common in the next months since the EV will embark on a 2.5 million km journey all around the world testing in all kinds of different conditions and terrains. The development period will simulate 400 years of use and make sure that everything is ready before the official debut. It has been confirmed by Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce, that the first examples of the Spectre will be delivered to their owners during the fourth quarter of 2023.
