The new Ford Bronco is one of the most popular new SUVs in a decade. In fact, the Blue Oval has had to increase production goals and adjust to the demand. The public wants the Bronco so badly that last month it had a turn time of seven days. That means that a new model sat on the dealer lot for just a week on average before it was purchased.
Despite all of the hype, there’s still
more to come from Ford and it’s coming in the most fearsome form available.
Right now, the Bronco is offered with two engines and a maximum output of 330
hp. That’s not bad but it’s nowhere near what Jeep offers in its Wrangler 392,
which makes 470-horsepower and sounds even meaner. To combat the 392, Ford is
building a Bronco Raptor and today, we’ve got new photos of the hyped SUV from
the folks at Ranger6g.com. In them, we see not just the Bronco Raptor but what
is likely a couple of Ranger Raptors as well. That’s right, if you didn’t know,
the F-150 Raptor has two more versions joining the pack.
These photos were taken in Arizona between
Congress and Yarnell. That’s a rugged tract of land about 16 km from
point to point. From what we can see in the pictures it looks like both
vehicles are far more muscularly styled than their normal variants. According
to the photographer who captured these images, the vehicles were tested on
winding mountain roads. That might explain why neither one is caked in dust or
mud. Dirt is notable on the front tires of the Bronco Raptor, however these
vehicles weren’t on pavement the entire time.
Aside from the obvious tweaks to the
bodywork, it’s clear to see that both Raptors are considerably taller than the
other trims in their lineup. The photographer also notes that all three
vehicles were powered by V6s, which seems to confirm previous reports for both
the Ranger and the Bronco. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer to
learn about what’s under the hood of the Bronco. Ford has teased a major
announcement coming next month so stay tuned.
