GAC has just began the sale of its latest electric vehicle. The new car is the Aion LX Plus, which is an electric SUV that offers an impressive range of more than 1,000 kilometers.
The Chinese automobile maker launched the
new SUV from its Aion lineup of all electric vehicle. As of right now, the
brand sells five electric SUVs, with the LX Plus now being the latest addition.
The company had first announced the Aion LX Plus back in November 2021. It
arrives with a sizeable max range of more than 1,000 kilometers in its extended
range mode despite having the same battery pack size as the existing base LX
model.
While the initial announcement revealed a
number of its features, the company did not share the official pricing of the
new SUV. But now, the Aion LX Plus has begun its official sales in China. GAC
claims that the new SUV is the “world’s longest range production vehicle,”
thanks to its 144.4 kWh battery pack that has an energy density of 205 Wh/kg.
The top end version of the electric SUV will offer an NEDC range of over 1,000
kilometers (1,008 kilometers to be exact) and will also include a sponge
silicon anode as well.
This variant of the Aion LX Plus will
start for 459,600 Yuan in China (US$ 72,300) and is currently
available for purchase and test drives at the moment. With the new launch, GAC
will be competing against the likes of NIO, Tesla, XPeng, and Lucid in the
Chinese market, which is a major region for EVs.
