Those looking to pick up the keys to a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will need to shell out a little extra for the 2022 model year. When the ultimate variant of the Mustang originally hit the market, it had an MSRP of UA$ 70,300, excluding the obligatory US$ 2,600 gas guzzler tax and a US$ 1,195 destination and delivery fee, bringing the price up to UA$ 74,095. However, the MSRP has now jumped to US$ 73,465 before the same UA$ 2,600 gas guzzler fee and US$ 1,195 destination fee, Cars Direct reports. This means you will need to shell out at least UA$ 77,260 to purchase a 2022 model, and that’s before any dealer markups.
No significant upgrades were
introduced for the 2022 Mustang GT500 but one option no longer available is the
Carbon Fiber Handling Package. This package cost a cool US$ 10,000 and sat between
the US$ 1,500 Handling Pack and the US$ 18,500 Carbon Fiber Track Pack. It came with
features including 20-inch black-painted carbon fiber wheels, adjustable strut
top mounts, a catch can, gurney flap, splitter wickers, and a wheel lock kit.
The Carbon Fiber Track Pack
includes 20-inch exposed carbon fiber wheels, a carbon instrument cluster,
carbon rear wing, Recaro leather seats, rear seat delete, and Michelin Pilot
Cup Sport 2 tires measuring 305/30 up front and 315/30 at the rear. One key
change for 2022 is the availability of the GT500 Heritage Edition. This model
features an exclusive Brittany Blue paint scheme with Wimbledon White vinyl
racing stripes. Ford also offers hand-painted racing stripes but at US$ 12,140,
they aren’t cheap. Another update made for 2022 is the availability of a new
color dubbed Code Orange, also offered on the GT, F-150 Raptor, and Bronco
Raptor.
