Chevrolet unveiled the 2024 Silverado EV earlier this year and now the company is giving us another look at the electric pickup and its interesting bed cap. The latter makes a brief appearance about a minute into the video and it features a unique design to accommodate the Silverado EV’s aerodynamically optimized body. The company showed two different versions and the taller cap boasts a roof rack as well as side panels that can be opened to provide access to sizeable storage compartments.

The video also reveals the truck’s 4-Wheel Steer system will allow for a turning radius of 12.9 meters. That’s not quite as tight as the 11.3 meters achieved by the GMC Hummer EV, but it’s tighter than traditional full-size crew cab pickups. Elsewhere, we can see the Avalanche-like Multi-Flex Midgate in action. It enables owners to expand the 1,803 mm bed into the cabin by folding down a divider. With the tailgate closed and the midgate open, the Silverado EV can haul items over 2,743 mm long. If that’s not enough space, the Multi-Flex Tailgate can be lowered to accommodate items as long as 3,302 mm.

 

The Silverado EV will arrive in the spring of 2023 in fleet-focused WT guise. It will have a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that develops a combined output of 510 hp and 834 Nm of torque. The model is slated to have a range in excess of 644 km as well as a towing capacity of 3,629 kg. However, Chevrolet will eventually offer variants that can tow up to 9,072 kg.

The Silverado EV RST First Edition will follow in the fall of 2023 and feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 664 hp and 1,056+ Nm of torque. The US$ 105,000 pickup will also have 644 km of range and a Wide Open Watts mode, which enables it to rocket from 0-96 km/h in less than 4.5 seconds. Other highlights include an adaptive air suspension that can raise or lower the truck up to 2 inches (50 mm). Buyers will also find a Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system, which allows for hands-free operation on more than 200,000 miles (321,869 km) of compatible roads in the United States and Canada.

Additional trims will follow in the future and Chevrolet has previously said customers will have the “ability to content the truck across various price ranges, with MSRPs around US$ 50,000, US$ 60,000, US$ 70,000, US$ 80,000 and more.” There will also be an entry-level WT variant that will starts at US$ 39,900 and appeal to businesses. Chevrolet is currently accepting reservations for a US$ 100 refundable deposit.
