Honda Cars India has launched the Honda City e:HEV hybrid electric sedan in the country. The e:HEV comes with an impressive fuel efficiency rating. The company says the hybrid car is an extension of the Honda City, and it can deliver an average mileage of 26.5km/liter of fuel. The e:HEV is the company’s first hybrid electric vehicle in India. It hopes to leverage the growing demand for such vehicles in India.
Honda Cars India has commenced pre-booking
for the City e:HEV with the first deliveries expected as early as May 2022. The
car features a self-charging dual-motor hybrid system connected to a 1.5-liter
petrol engine. The setup is capable of delivering a peak power of 126 PS and
the earlier stated fuel efficiency of 26.5 km/liter.
Honda Cars India is a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Honda and hopes to position itself as a major player in some of
its niche offerings. Honda plans to launch 30 EV models globally by 2030. Several
other features will be present in the new hybrid electric car. It will come
with a high-performance front camera that will enhance the driver’s safety when
driving. The camera is capable of a wide-angle view and helps to scan the road
ahead. It also alerts the driver when there is a risk of an accident and can
also intervene in some situations.
The introduction of the Honda City e:HEV,
according to the company, will herald the delivery of several electric models
with India-centric leanings. There are still some key details lacking at this
time including the pricing information.
