The Voyah Dreamer, first introduced at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show last November, is now available for sale in China labelled as the world’s quickest minivan. The Dreamer combines premium features with excellent practicality and great performance for the segment.
Dongfeng’s premium brand announced the
detailed specs of the Dreamer which comes in both fully electric and
range-extending hybrid forms. The EV has dual electric motors producing a
combined 429 hp and 620 Nm of torque. It
accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and has a top speed
limited to 200 km/h. While those specs are very impressive for a
family hauler, they are not as impressive as the Voyah Free SUV that produces 684
hp and 1,040 Nm of torque and is based on the
same platform.
Still, with a power output of 429 hp, the
EV variant of the Voyah Dreamer is currently the most powerful minivan money
can buy. As for the range-extending option with the turbocharged 1.5-liter
engine and twin electric motors, it produces 389 hp and 610
Nm and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. In
terms of electric range, the 2,625 kg EV can travel up to 600 km between charges, while the 2,540 kg range
extender takes it up to 700 km.
The design of the minivan is characterized
by the massive grille covering the largest portion of the front end, a heavy
dose of chrome accents all around the bodywork, full-LED lighting units, and
low ground clearance. Measuring 5,315 mm long, 1,985 mm wide, and 1,820 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,200 mm, the Voyah Dreamer is larger than the Lexus LM and Buick GL8
Avenir ICE-powered rivals in the premium minivan segment.
Inside, the minivan comes in four- or
seven-seater configurations. The latter has a 2+2+3 layout which means that the
front two rows enjoy captain’s chairs while cargo space is still pretty
adequate at 427 lt. Equipment is generous with three screens on
the dashboard, heated and ventilated seats with massaging function, reclining
footrests, vegan leather upholstery, electric sliding doors, a DYN Audio sound
system, Level 2+ autonomous driving capability, 5G connectivity, and adaptive
air suspension.
Pricing for the Voyah Dreamer in China
ranges between ¥ 380,000-¥ 480,000 (US$ 59,694-US$ 75,403) for the seven-seater and
starts from a steep ¥ 600,000 (US$ 94,254) for the four-seater which is offering
Maybach levels of luxury. The first deliveries of the minivan are scheduled for
July 2022.
