BMW has announced a series of 2022 (in Europe) updates for a number of models, including the 2-Series Active Tourer, 2-Series Coupe, 4-Series Gran Coupe, 5-Series, 6-Series Gran Turismo, X5, X6, and Z4, while revealing the upcoming facelifted M3s (to be sold as a 2023MY in North America) revised interior with the Curved Display. Starting with the 2-Series Active Tourer, it will soon be available with two new plug-in hybrid powertrains as well as a new mild-hybrid diesel. Both of the plug-in hybrid models have a three-cylinder petrol engine mated to a rear-mounted electric motor. The entry-level 225e xDrive Active Tourer is rated at 245 hp while the 230e xDrive Active Tourer has 326 hp.
As for the new 2.0-liter four-cylinder
diesel, it powers the 223d xDrive Active Tourer and sports 48-volt mild-hybrid
technology. It is rated at 197 hp and 400 Nm. Moving to the
2-Series Coupe, it is now offered in 218i guise featuring a 2.0-liter
four-cylinder with 156 hp and 250 Nm and an 8-speed Steptronic
automatic transmission. BMW has also added an M240i to the range, featuring the
same 3.0-liter turbo-six as the M240i xDrive but now solely rear-wheel drive
and producing 374 hp. BMW has also updated the 2022 2-Series Coupe with new
paddle shifters and its Curved Display, consisting of a 12.3-inch digital gauge
cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment display.
Moving to the 4-Series Gran Coupe, it will
now be available in M440i guise without all-wheel drive and just rear-wheel drive.
A new 430d xDrive Gran Coupe has also been launched with a 3.0-liter
turbo-diesel six rated at 286 hp and 650 Nm. An M Sport Package Pro
is also being launched for all 4-Series models, including the i4 M50.
Similarly, BMW has launched a new M Sport Package Pro for the 5-Series Sedan,
5-Series Touring, and 6-Series Gran Turismo. Extended standard equipment has
also been added to the Z4 and includes a fully digital gauge cluster. X5 and X6
models also now feature Sensafin décor-quilted interior trim.
From July 2022, the BMW M3 Sedan will also
be available with the automaker’s aforementioned Curved Display. It can also be
optioned with a wireless charging tray, new M interior trims finished in
Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite, and can be finished in Frozen Pure Grey metallic
for the first time. A new M graphics package has been separately launched for
the M4 Coupe.
All BMW models equipped with the new
Operating System 8 will also receive an updated navigation system and BMW
Intelligent Personal Assistant.
