Hot on the heels of the facelifted 2023 BMW 3-Series Sedan breaking cover for the U.S. market, the German carmaker has showcased the updated model in Touring guise. In Europe, the refreshed 3-Series Sedan will be offered with a multitude of diesel and gasoline variants, including the 318i, 320i, 320i xDrive, 330i, 330i xDrive, M340i xDrive, 320e, 330e, 330e xDrive, 318d, 320d, 320d xDrive, 330d, 330d xDrive, and M340d xDrive. Those looking to pick up the keys to the new 3-Series Touring will be offered the same powertrains, although there is no 320i xDrive Touring and instead, there is a 320e xDrive model.

Driving 318i-badged models is a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 156 hp and 250 Nm)of torque. Power rises to 184 hp and 300 Nm in 320i models while the 330i lifts grunt further to 245 hp and 400 Nm. Sitting above this engine in the petrol family is the 3.0-liter turbo six of the M340i xDrive with 374 hp and 500 Nm. As for the electrified 320e and 330e, they both use a 2.0-liter turbo four that is good for 163 hp and 300 Nm in the 320e and 184 hp and 300 Nm in the 330e. The 318d and 320d sport a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four with 150 hp and 320 Nm and 190 hp and 400 Nm respectively. The more powerful 330d is sold with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel six rated at 286 hp and 650 Nm. Topping out the diesel range is the M340d with 340 hp and 700 Nm.

 

All of the same design changes have been made to the European 3-Series as those to be sold in other markets. As such, BMW has redesigned the headlights and kidney grille, resulting in quite an attractive front end. Changes have also been made to the rear, most notably with the fitment of tweaked taillights and a new bumper. Minimal changes have been made to the cabin of the refreshed 3-Series Sedan and Touring with the exception of a new curved display housing a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen.

BMW will build both the new 3-Series Sedan and 3-Series Touring at its Munich plant. The Sedan will also be built at its Mexican plant in San Luis Potosi for North America, while a Chinese-version of the Sedan will be manufactured at the Shenyang plant operated by the BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture.
