Chinese tech company DeepBlue Technology has applied for patent registration of an all-electric taxi styled like the panda with a distinct nose and black/white body.

The lack of visible door handles suggests the doors are automatic. Nothing is mentioned about the powertrain and tech. That the car is electric is also not official, but the missing radiator grille and the tiny air intake in the front bumper are both dead giveaways. Furthermore, considering the latest trends of China’s automotive industry, patenting a gas-powered taxi would surprise us much more than patenting an EV.

Interestingly enough, the images also avoid showing any radars, LiDARs or cameras, despite the fact that DeepBlue Technology has eight years of experience in the development of AI and self-driving systems. If you watch the attached video, you will learn about some of its projects, including a self-driving neighborhood cleaning machine and an autonomous bus that’s already fully legal to operate in a number of cities throughout China.
