The number of modifications of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class into a campervan has become a stimulus for coachbuilders to explore the modification of the V-Class’ brother, the Mercedes-Benz EQV for similar modifications. The step was finally initiated by Tonke, a campervan specialist from the Netherlands by releasing the Mercedes-Benz EQV campervan. Interestingly, Tonke immediately provides two campervan EQV variants, there is a compact Adventure variant and a Touring variant with cabin equipment like a mobile home.
The first model, the Tonke EQV Adventure
variant, is set as the cheapest. The completeness of the cabin of this model
offers spacious room for seven passengers, although the shortcomings can be
seen from the lack of furniture and camping equipment. This model is equipped
with a pop-up roof, bed and flat bad, and offers the option to mount the
kitchen on the stern.
A more luxurious and complete variant is
the Tonke EQV Touring, which offers a comfortable cabin for a family of four
and is equipped with integrated furniture and a versatile rotary kitchen. This
kitchen is claimed to be able to be used to cook food both inside and outside
the cabin because it can be rotated out through the driver’s side sliding door.
This kitchen is also equipped with an induction hob for two pans, a sink and a
cooling compressor with a capacity of 36 liters. The specialty of this kitchen
is in terms of functionality, where the interior face panel of the kitchen
structure swings upwards and doubles as a table that passengers can use between
the front and rear seats.
Even when turned outward, the dining table
is ready to turn into a work desk to support cabin crew activities. The
remaining sidewalls include a multilevel refrigerator, cabinet and wardrobe
console. The two-seat rear bench folds into a double bed measuring 203 x 115
cm, while the pop-up roof can accommodate a double bed.
The cabin of the Tonke EQV Touring is also
equipped with a heat exchanger, which ensures the cabin can be warm and
comfortable in an energy efficient way even when the vehicle is stationary. In
terms of technical specifications, the front-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz EQV and
equipped with an electric motor has a power of 150 kW and a torque of 362 Nm.
