Mini today announced that it has become the main sponsor of gamescon 2022 in Cologne, Germany, which runs from August 24 to 28. There, it will show off a special version of its latest electric concept vehicle. Through a special partnership with Pokémon, the Mini Concept Aceman will be a featured display at the show. In the concept’s “Experience Mode” the central infotainment display is taken over by Pikachu, the electric type Pokémon.
Beyond displaying in the screen, though,
the animated character will be able to interact with the dashboard and door
cards thanks to the Mini Concept Aceman’s advanced projection technology. One
animated loop shows a Poke Ball opening with a blue glow that extends across
the interior of the vehicle. In another animation loop, Pikachu’s lightning
attack travels through the vehicle.
An Action Pack has also been created for
the full-size car, that makes it look like it comes in the same kind of
packaging as action figures and features Poke Balls (among other Pokémon themed
designs) on the wheels. In addition to the Pikachu-themed, full-size concept
car, Mini’s design team also worked on creating a collectible art toy based on
the concept.
As part of the show, Mini will also
encourage fans to play nice with the “PLAY ON!” campaign, which promotes an
open and diverse society. In addition, the brand will also sponsor seating at
the show, and will power a charging bank for attendees’ smartphones in an area
that is supplied with snacks and water. A DJ will also entertain the people in
the MINI Arena.
