The Rad Power RadExpand 5 is a lighter folding e-bike that can achieve a range of 72km on a single charge. The RadExpand 5 weighs 28kg and is the fifth iteration of the RadExpand model. It is the lightest in the series with its 6061 aluminum frame. The new pedelec has a 250W electric motor with a top speed of 32 km/h.
The lightweight nature of the RadExpand 5
makes it easier to transport. Its fatter tires, adjustable handlebars, and
several other upgrades help to give a comfortable riding experience. The
RadExpand 5 has a low-profile cadence sensing pedal assist as well as a half
twist power assist throttle. A MicroShift TS71-7 shift lever helps to shift
between the seven gears of the e-bike. Braking resources are supplied by the
mechanical disc brakes on both wheels of the e-bike. The rear rack of the bike
can carry loads up to 25 kg, while the bike as a whole has a 125 kg payload.
The Rad Power RadExpand 5 comes with LED
lights for enhanced visibility and safety, while the review mirror, a front
basket, and a phone mount are optional accessories. Availability of the
RadExpand 5, for now, is limited to parts of Europe. Two color options – black
and white were produced but the black model is out of stock currently.
The RadExpand 5 folding e-bike retails at
€ 1,499 (US$ 1,525) and will be a great buy for daily urban commutes.
