The next generation of the Chevrolet Equinox has been spotted on the streets with a couple of mufflers and a large radiator grille betraying its gas-powered nature. It looks like the new iteration of the car takes on a boxier look while remaining largely recognizable. The d-pillar in particular makes the rear glass look almost upright.

The front end seems influenced by the Equinox EV, especially in the DRL area. However, unlike its electric counterpart, the classic SUV has a large and pronounced front grille.

Overall, it is clear that Chevrolet follows the latest fashion making its cars boxier and bulkier: Honda did the same with the Pilot and Subaru pulled the same trick with the Forester. In contrast, the EV will most likely be styled with smoother, more elegant lines.
