Ferrari is celebrating 30 years of vehicles sales on mainland China with a new one-off. The very special Roma was built through the brand’s Tailor Made program with the help of Chinese designer Jiang Qiong’er. The car is finished in Sanusilver Matte with Rosso Magma Glossy highlights, such as the central stripe and the pin striping along its carbon fiber side sills. The red was chosen as an homage to traditional Chinese carmine red, and the pin striping was inspired by classical Ming Dynasty furniture.
The interior, meanwhile, is finished in
red with silver stripes, contrasting the exterior, and features a gold plaque
with the Chinese symbol for 30. That plaque is replicated in gold and jade on a
key case that comes with the Roma. The case is painted a red and gold-spotted
Boluo lacquer, which is a traditional technique that is known for its textured
finish. The dedication plate plays jade against the gold, because both
materials are associated with good wishes and reverence.
In addition, Jiang Qiong’er has designed
an exclusive collection of goods to go with the car. The package is inspired by
the small pleasures of daily and includes a Roma aroma diffuser that is made
with ebony and crystal, with scents for each season. That scent diffuser may
come in handy if you decide to use the next item in the set, an ebony cigar box
with an ink stone cigar ashtray. The collection also features a tea tool set
painted in red and gold Boluo lacquer, as well as a tea set made using bamboo
weaving, a Xuan paper kite, cashmere blankets, and a Chinese checkers set made
of agate and leather.
Although that’s a rather large collection
of goods, they’re all designed to fit neatly within the Roma. The items can be
discreetly stowed in the glove compartment, armrest, and the trunk, so that you
can take them all with you wherever you go. As with all Ferrari Romas, this
vehicle is powered by Ferrari’s 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine. It makes 612
hp that can get up to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds.
