At the Guangzhou auto show, Jidu Auto unveiled its second model AI-powered robotic car, ROBO-02. The sedan by the Baidu subsidiary shares many design cues with the ROBO-01 SUV as well as its lack of conventional door handles. Instead, you use either your voice or the Bluetooth feature provided. The car is still largely focused on autonomous driving and machine interaction, and Jidu even refused to talk performance numbers.

Given the similarity in design the ROBO-02 is likely to share its powertrains with the ROBO-01, which has dual motors with 400kW combined output and a 100kWh CATL battery.

It is reasonable to expect that the ROBO-02, if equipped with the same motor and battery as the ROBO-01, will have even better acceleration and range performance due to its lower drag as a sedan compared to the ROBO-01 SUV. However it's clearly going to be a while before the Jidu duo is ready to take the road and a lot might change until then.

According to the maker, the ROBO-01 will be made available for purchase starting in 2023. It's clearly going to be the later parts of the year though or else the company would have already been more specific about it.
