Startup company vonMercier has revealed a market-ready version of the Arosa, an all-electric hovercraft masquerading as a supercar with giant wheels. The wheels are there just for show, though, as all propulsion is being handled by an air cushion at the bottom.
The design enables the Arosa to traverse
terrain and water alike without any adjustments needed for the transition.
Drivers can go forward, sideways, in reverse and use a boost feature for
overtaking and other fast maneuvers. The manufacturer claims the vehicle is
much quieter than conventional hovercrafts and cheaper to maintain thanks to
its electric system. You can charge it at a regular EV charger.
From the design point of view, the Arosa
has a sleek aerodynamic body made out of carbon with an aggressive nose and
massive air intakes at both sides. The interior has an open design inspired by
marine vessels and seats up to three people as long as the total load does not
exceed 225 kilograms. The driver’s seat resides in the front
middle position, and you can choose either another single seat or a bench for
two for the back row.
The pricing remains to be revealed, but
you can already leave a pre-order.
