Lamborghini may now have a 1,000 hp+ hybrid supercar in its line-up following the recent launch of the Revuelto but Ferrari is one step ahead, and is already working on a hardcore version of the insane SF90. Believe it or not but it has almost been four years since the SF90 Stradale was first shown to the world and in that time, it has established itself as one of the most impressive supercars on sale, leaving behind the Lamborghini Aventador with vastly superior performance and technology. Now it’s time for an even faster version.
A YouTuber by the name of Varryx recently
spotted an intriguing prototype of the new SF90 testing around the company’s
headquarters in Maranello, Italy. We can see that Ferrari’s designers have
worked tirelessly to overhaul the exterior design in a bid to improve
aerodynamics and make the car even better suited to the track. These
aerodynamic alterations start at the front end where the bumper and air intakes
have been completely changed and now look much more aggressive. A larger
splitter is also visible. The Italian brand has also fitted new side skirts to
the car while tweaking the side air intakes. Things then get particularly
dramatic at the rear.
Ferrari has never been particularly fond
of fitting its road cars with large, fixed rear wings but that’s exactly what
this prototype has. The car also has a unique diffuser that will also help to
boost downforce over the rear axle.
The hardcore SF90 is currently being
referred to as the SF90 VS or Versione Speciale but it is unclear if either of
those names will be used by the production model. Either way, we suspect that
Ferrari will massage the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and the trio of
electric motors to deliver a touch more grunt than the standard model’s 986 hp.
