The Genesis G70 sports sedan has just been updated in the South Korean market and includes a new powertrain for the entry-level model. Whereas the entry-level G70 has been sold up until this point with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 252 hp and 353 Nm of torque, this engine has now been replaced by a more potent 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. This engine is good for 300 hp and 422 Nm of torque and is identical to the engine that was found in entry-level 2022 Kia Stinger models.
Genesis has also made a handful of other
updates to the G70 for the 2024 model year in Korea. For example, the 2.5-liter
version now comes standard with upgraded Brembo brakes and adaptive suspension.
Some other subtle alterations have also been made. For example, the car
manufacturer has tweaked the badge with a more complex engraved pattern while
also designing new 18- and 19-inch wheels for the sedan. In addition, two new
colors dubbed Kawah Blue and Bartna Grey have been added to the palette.
Found inside the cabin of the 2024 G70 is
a new frameless rear-view mirror, a capacitive touchscreen for the HVAC system
just like other Genesis models, a new steering wheel, ventilated front seats, a
USB-C charging port, and three new two-tone color options for the cabin,
consisting of Obsidian Black/Fog Grey, Obsidian Black/Vanilla Beige, and Forest
Blue/Vanilla Beige.
Korean shoppers who want the entry-level
2.5-liter engine can get the G70 in either sedan or wagon guises, priced from
43.15 million won (US$ 32,550) and 45.11 million won (US$ 34,000) respectively.
Continuing to top out the range is the familiar 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6
that is offered exclusively in sedan form, not as a wagon like the 2.5-liter.
