The Aston Martin Vantage successor is coming into focus as spy photographers have snapped the first pictures of the upcoming coupe. More facelift than redesign, the revamped model attempts to right the wrongs and embrace a more traditional Aston Martin aesthetic. The changes are most noticeable up front where the car adopts larger headlights and a ‘right-sized’ grille. We can also see a new ventilated hood and what appears to be a more curvaceous bumper.
Unfortunately from there, it’s déjà vu all
over again as the front fender vents, greenhouse, and doors appear to
carryover. The rear end is nearly identical too, but we can see a ventilated
bumper that echoes the one found on the limited edition V12 Vantage. We can
also see what appears to be larger and more aggressive exhaust tips.
Spy photographers didn’t get a look
inside, but previous pictures have suggested the model will receive an updated
cabin. Details are limited, but the car could follow in the footsteps of the
DB12 and feature a new digital instrument cluster, a larger touchscreen
infotainment system, and streamlined switchgear. Little else is known about the
car at this point, but powertrain upgrades are expected. Firm numbers are hard
to come by, but the current model has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 developing 503
hp and 685 Nm of torque. It enables the coupe to
accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 314 km/h.
Those are respectable numbers, but Aston
Martin could aim higher as the Vantage F1 Edition has 527 hp. That
being said, we shouldn’t expect to see another V12 Vantage as the company has
previously said the model is retiring
