Since Volkswagen confirmed that the next-generation Golf would be completely electric, these new spy shots reveal what must be the last hybrid version of the iconic hatchback, the new GTE prototype.
Any changes the manufacturer made to the
front bumper it concealed with smart camo applications. The headlights are
still visibly new, and so are the taillights. Compared to the current Golf GTE, the new version appears only slightly different in terms of
design.
The photographer was unable to snap any
interior shots, but the display in the middle is so large it is even visible
through the side windows.
It may be too early to talk about
powertrain modifications, but recent rumors have been claiming that Volkswagen
intends to replace its entry-level 1.4-liter engine with a superior 1.5-liter
one.
