Again the prototype vehicle that was caught near Hyundai-KIA R&D Center in Namyang and we thought it was the KIA EV4. The vehicle, sure it is a KIA but unsure if will be EV4 or EV3, shows a boxy design and have parts mounted that make us think this is a Kia, for example, the exterior mirrors are the same used in the new KIA Niro while the wheels are from the Sorento. Now and thanks to this video we can see KIA logo in the trunk.
The EV4 was caught inside a parking lot in
South Korea and despite we don’t know it was already developed, already has its
production body. Some parts like taillights are still missing and the lack of
its own wheels and mirrors made us to think this is one of the first prototypes
built to test it on public roads.
Not that long ago, we spied an EV6 chassis
testing mule that had a slightly modified body of the Kia EV6 with apparently
similar wheelbase but could be hiding a different model, this is the first time
we spied this model. It is still unknown if this model used the E-GMP platform
or the new “eM“. As a possible budget electric car (remember it has the same
size as a Seltos but with a longer wheelbase) we bow down for E-GMP, but maybe
with a 400V system like the EV5 and LFP (lithium iron phosphate battery) to
keep the price under US$ 25,000.
These are the very first spy shots of an
expected SUV that should arrive sometime in 2024 and could rival Tesla Model 2
and Volkswagen ID.2all under US$ 30,000 cars.
