The Lynk & Co 08 EM-P plug-in hybrid SUV from Geely and Volvo started pre-sales in China. Its price starts from 218,000 yuan (US$ 30,400). The Lynk & Co 08 EM-P features 220 km of all electric CLTC range, 593 hp and a mixed range of 1,400 km. Let’s get to know it better. The Lynk & Co 08 is a fastback SUV that adopts the design language that was introduced by the Lynk & Co The Next Day concept-car. It still has distinguishing running lights that sit on top of the bonnet. But they have become thinner. As they go up, running lights merge into a single element. As for the headlights, they are integrated into the bonnet. The front end of the Lynk & Co 08 hasn’t got a noticeable grille. According to Geely, it doesn’t need one because of the efficient cooling system of the 08’s PHEV powertrain. So, it has only got an air intake in the lower part of the front bumper. From the back, the 08 has a single taillight unit.

Speaking about the dimensions of the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P, they are 4820/1915/1685 mm with a wheelbase of 2848 mm. So, in terms of sizing, it stays close to the BMW X4. According to Lynk & Co, the 08 EM-P stands on the all-new platform called CMA Evo. In fact, it is a slightly reworked architecture that underpins Volvo XC40, every Lynk & Co model (except Lynk & Co 09) and a bunch of Geely branded cars. So, its platform isn’t really new, but it was enhanced.

 

Inside, the Lynk & Co 08 has a large floating center screen with a diameter of 15.4 inches. As for the instrument panel, its diameter reaches 12.3 inches. And, if these screens aren’t enough, the 08 also has a 92-inch AR-HUD. This impressive multimedia is powered by the Lynk Flyme Auto system developed jointly by Lynk & Co and Meizu, that was acquired by Geely. Other features of the Lynk & Co 08’s interior are Nappa leather, 50W wireless phone charging pad, 23-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system. The front passenger of the 08 has got a leg rest. Moreover, four seats inside the car (except the middle seat in the second row) are equipped with the massage function. Of course, we are speaking about the top-trim level.

The powertrain of the Lynk & Co 08 has a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and three electric motors. Of course, the 08 is a 4WD vehicle. Its total power output reaches 436 kW (593 hp), as for the peak torque, it is 905 Nm. As a result, the Lynk & Co 08 can speed up from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. It has a ternary (NMC) 39.6-kWh battery on board, good for 245 lm of CLTC range in pure electric mode. As for the mixed range, it reaches 1,400 km. The fuel consumption rate of its ICE is 5.5 L/100km. Back to the battery, you can charge it from 30% to 80% with a DC charger in 28 minutes. But the 08 supports only 3.3-kW AC charging. So, it is better to use a DC charger here.

Here, we should mention that Lynk & Co started sales of the Limited Edition of the 08 EM-P. It costs 288,000 yuan (US$ 40,160). The quantity of the Limited Edition reaches 1,008 cars.
