Chery has begun testing a new full-size crossover SUV provisionally known as the T28. It is shaping up as a bigger alternative to the company’s Tiggo 9 and its next flagship.
According to these spy shots available
courtesy of CarNewsChina, the prototype vehicle still wears plenty of camo.
Still, you can just about discern a radiator grille with vertical bars, a
spoiler and a stamped hood. Overall, the styling isn’t that different from the
Tiggo 9. The body length is around 5 meters, or 16.4 feet.
Rumor has it the SUV will be based on a
platform called T2X. It may ship with a 2.0-liter petrol engine rated at 260 PS and an eight-speed automatic transmission in the base spec. A
hybrid spec based on the same engine is also expected with roughly 160 km of driving range. These details remain to be confirmed.
