Nearly two and a half years have passed since Audi introduced the A6 e-tron concept, but the production model is inching closer to reality and a prototype was recently caught in Europe. The electric sedan is heavily disguised but features a fully enclosed grille. It’s flanked by split lighting units, which echo those found on the upcoming Q6 e-tron. Further below, there are angular intakes and a wide central opening with a honeycomb mesh insert. Designers gave the car streamlined bodywork with soft curves and flowing surfaces. They’re joined by sizeable side skirts, flush-mounted door handles, and a rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof.
There isn’t much to see out back, but the
EV has slender taillights and a trunk with an integrated spoiler. They’re
accompanied by a sporty diffuser and a stepped rear bumper. Despite numerous
sightings over the past year and a half, we haven’t gotten a good look inside.
However, the model may follow in the footsteps of the Q6 e-tron and sport an
11.9-inch digital instrument cluster that flows into a 14.5-inch infotainment
system. The crossover can also be outfitted with a 10.9-inch front passenger
display, which features shutter technology to prevent the driver from being
distracted.
Regardless, the A6 and Q6 e-tron will ride
on the all-new PPE platform. The latter will have a 100 kWh battery pack that
powers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing approximately 375 hp. This setup should enable the model to have a range of around 600 km in the WLTP cycle. Buyers looking for more performance can wait
for the SQ6 e-tron, which will have around 483 hp. The S6
e-tron should mirror that and eventually be followed by a high-performance RS6
e-tron.
Audi was originally slated to introduce
the A6 e-tron this year, but the car is now expected to debut in 2024.
