American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is answering the call of the wild with their new GMC Sierra Grande Concept. Set to debut at the SEMA Show, the Sierra Grande is based on a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD with a regular cab and a long bed. While that’s a relatively plain configuration, AEV got to work and transformed the truck into a rugged off-roader. Its purpose is immediately clear after looking at the front end, which sports a stamped steel front bumper sourced from the Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition. The beefy bumper is joined by auxiliary lights, a prototype brush guard, and a 5,670 kg GM Performance/ComeUp winch.
Bigger changes occur further back as the
truck has been equipped with an AEV snorkel, HighMark fender flares, and an
8-foot aluminum tray bed. Eyes will also be drawn to the AEV Salta XD wheels
that are wrapped in massive 40-inch BFGoodrich tires. A custom rear bumper
resides out back and is accompanied by a 4,309 kg ComeUp winch.
Other highlights include an ARB on-board air system and an AEV vertical tire
mount in the bed.
The upgrades aren’t just skin deep as the
truck has been equipped with skid plates sourced from the Sierra HD AT4X AEV
Edition. The company also worked with the GMC engineering team to “incorporate
a variety of Sierra HD AT4X components, such as control arms, steering
knuckles, rear suspension, and Multimatic DSSV dampers” into the build. Thanks
to this effort, the truck has a 1.5-inch (38 mm) lift that promises to deliver “improved
off-road performance and versatility, without sacrificing comfort or
durability.”
Power is provided by a 6.6-liter Duramax
diesel engine that produces 445 hp and 1,234 Nm of torque.
It’s connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission and, we assume, a
four-wheel drive system.
