The Subaru BRZ has just welcomed an new special edition that brings its looks closer to a bona fide STI model than any other factory-spec variant. This limited-production model is called the BRZ Touge, with only 60 units available the Italian market. It boasts an array of STI-branded components, complete with those signature gold-finished wheels that enthusiasts have come to adore. Let’s start by saying that the BRZ Touge looks a lot more aggressive than the recently revealed JDM-spec BRZ STI Sport and its US-spec equivalent, the BRZ tS. Exclusively offered in Subaru’s Blu Pearl shade, it’s complemented by striking gold 18-inch OZ Superleggera wheels adorned with red Touge center caps. Additionally, this special edition comes equipped with prominent front splitters, STI-branded side skirts, rear bumper extensions, a diffuser, and a rear spoiler.

While these components are already available as optional extras in Japan, this is the first time that Subaru has bundled them together as part of a special edition. Another noteworthy feature is the larger dual exhaust tailpipes crafted by the Italian tuner Supersprint, which also display the “Touge” lettering. And if you’re curious, the name of this special edition, “Touge,” is derived from the Japanese word for mountain pass, a fitting moniker for the BRZ.

 

Moving to the interior, the Touge-specific features are limited to the numbered door sills and the black-and-red leather and ultrasuede upholstery, which is very similar to the US-specification 2024 Subaru BRZ tS. Standard features include adaptive LEDs, sporty seats, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 6-speaker audio system.

Under the hood, you’ll find the familiar 2.4-liter boxer engine producing 231 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The output is slightly different than the Japanese and the North American versions of the BRZ, due to market-specific tuning for Europe. Power is channeled to the rear axle through a 6-speed manual gearbox, aided by a limited-slip differential. Subaru claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.3 seconds.

With only 60 units available for Italian customers, it’s likely that the Subaru BRZ Touge will sell out quickly, despite its relatively high price tag of € 49,500 (US$ 52,216). Only time will tell whether the special edition will remain an Italian-only affair, or if Subaru will consider producing more units for other European markets.
