The Los Angeles Auto Show kicks off later this week and Kia will use the event to provide a “peek into the future.” While the automaker is playing coy, the teaser image shows the 2025 Sorento. Unveiled in South Korea earlier this year, the facelifted crossover adopts a more assertive Opposites United design that looks great. As part of the makeover, the model has been equipped with a new grille that is flanked by vertical headlights and “star map” daytime running lights. They’re joined by a new bumper, which embraces a more rugged aesthetic.
The remaining updates are modest, but
include restyled wheels and new taillights that are now connected together. The
model also sports a lightly revised rear bumper. The US-spec Sorento should
have an all-new interior with a minimalist dashboard and a curved panoramic
display, which consists of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a
12.3-inch infotainment system. The latter should be new and support
over-the-air updates.
Other highlights should include revised
switchgear, digital key technology, and a fingerprint authentication system.
They should be joined by updated trim and a digital rearview mirror. In Korea,
the Sorento is offered with an assortment of engines including a turbocharged
2.5-liter unit producing 277 hp and 422 Nm of
torque. Customers can also get a 1.6-liter turbo hybrid or a 2.2-liter diesel
with 191 hp and 441 Nm of torque.
We’ll learn US-specifications shortly, but
the current model offers 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines as well as hybrid and
plug-in hybrid options.
