CES is right around the corner and Hyundai will use the event to highlight plans for hydrogen, artificial intelligence, and electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Starting with the latter, Hyundai’s Supernal will build a vertiport outside the Las Vegas Convention Center so visitors can see the “future of transportation.” As part of this effort, the building will house an eVTOL concept that has a V-shaped tail as well as multiple rotors that can apparently rotate 90 degrees.
The vertiport itself is interesting as
it’s a mini airport designed for eVTOL aircraft. They’re envisioned to connect
to other forms of mobility and can be located in cities, rural areas, and even
on top of parking garages or skyscrapers. Supernal’s exhibit will highlight
potential flight networks as well as take visitors on a simulated flight
through Los Angeles. These efforts will support the company’s goal of creating
a “new, efficient transportation option” that will be “widely accessible in the
coming decades.”
On the automotive side, Hyundai will show
“how its hydrogen-powered and software-driven transformation will bring
universal benefits to humanity.” The company was coy on specifics, but
announced plans to introduce a “modular hydrogen toolbox” that promises to
“establish a clean hydrogen value chain.” The automaker will also highlight
their future software strategy, which aims to provide a “fully optimized,
user-centric ecosystem connecting devices, services and solutions.” We can also
expect mobility concepts as well as AI news.
