Kei trucks possess a unique charm that endures with age. This holds true for the Suzuki Carry – or in this instance, its extended-cab variant known as the Super Carry, hich has recently received a new special edition in Japan, despite being around since 2013. The Suzuki Super Carry X Limited offers a rugged interpretation of this little truck with its cab-over design. The standout feature is the three layers of black decals adorning its sides, resembling bolt-on metal panels. The LED headlights sport black clusters, complemented by a matching black finish for the grille, fog lamp bezels, door handles, and mirror caps.
Additionally, the tiny 12-inch steel
wheels have also been coated in black, enhancing the vehicle’s purposeful
appearance without the need for hub caps. It’s worth noting that the Super
Carry X Limited comes in only four available exterior shades: Moss Gray, Silky
Silver, Cool Khaki Pearl, and Bluish Black Pearl Suzuki claims that these
visual enhancements give the Super Carry a ‘tough and fearless impression,’
aligning with the recent trend of adventurous-looking kei vans, many of which
are styled like crossovers.
The Super Carry X Limited comes equipped
with the standard 658 cc three-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering 50 hp and 59 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels
through either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic, assisted by a 4WD
system.
The eleventh generation of the Suzuki
Carry was introduced in 2013 and has undergone few changes over the past
decade. This kei truck measures 3,395 mm in length and offers
several practical solutions despite its compact size. The extended cab of the
Super Carry provides additional cargo space behind the two seats, while
allowing the driver’s seat to recline by 40 degrees and slide by 180 mm. The drop-side rear bed spans 1,480 mm (58.3 inches) in length and
includes a recess under the cabin for transporting longer items.
The Suzuki Super Carry X Limited is now
available in Japan, with prices starting at ¥ 1,513,600 (US$ 10,678) for the manual
gearbox variant and ¥ 1,612,600 (US$ 11,400) for the automatic version. By comparison, the standard Super Carry
begins at ¥ 1,058,200 (US$ 7,500), while the slightly smaller Carry is even more
affordable, starting from ¥ 752,400 (US$ 5,300).
