Yamaha has enlisted Honda’s help to design a versatile new platform for compact, low-speed electric transports. To showcase its possible uses, the vehicle manufacturer will be bringing as many as seven different concepts to the impending Tokyo Auto Salon.
The company reckons that adopting this new
platform will enable it to expand its lineup of individual mobility means. All
vehicles previewed before the show are designed for either one or two people –
not more. There is a tiny urban truck, a couple of ATVs, and some
single-seaters with bike-style controls.
The Concept 682 is easily the most bizarre
of all. It is a futuristic-looking AWD quad bike that appears equally ready for
fast-paced driving on and off road. Then there is the Concept 294, a
single-seater trike with a vaguely Scandinavian exterior designed to appeal to
various ages.
Yamaha points out that it will be its
first time participating in the Tokyo Auto Salon, an auto show traditionally
more focused on aftermarket and tuning.
